JOB PURPOSE:
An exempt position responsible for identifying, implementing monitoring, and evaluating clinical quality and risk management activities and providing related consulting and support services.JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Participates in strategic and operational planning to ensure a high level of quality care at the faculty practice sites. Integrates the principles and values of continuous risk improvement throughout the practice including areas of clinical safety and clinical standards. Ensures risk improvement efforts comply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Meets with clinicians, administrators and staff to identify and problem solve quality and risk issues at the various faculty practice sites.
• Works closely with Faculty Practice Directors to develop, implement and ensure compliance with UCOE policy and procedures to minimize risk.
• Monitors medical practice efforts to ensure compliance with internal and external and risk management standards. Reviews medical records and other documentation to monitor adherence to the standard of care.
• Monitors patient care and service quality through delay tracking, timeliness and appropriateness of patient scheduling and follow-up, accuracy and completeness of medical records documentation, demonstration of infection control and safety and security procedures, compliance with mandatory training and competencies. Follows through on complaints including identification of corrective actions needed.
• Reviews and evaluates risk related patient complaints and incident reports and provides timely resolution.
• Educates new staff, including physicians, about systems and requirements.
• Coordinates the effort to log or document data and prepare reports to meet the requirements of regulatory/accrediting agencies, including Pharmacy, OSHA, Release of Information, Security Breaches, patient complaints and incident reports.
• Participates as a member of the CCFMG Safety Committee.JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in health administration, science or nursing.
• Registered Nurse, desired.Experience:
• Minimum four years of experience in health care setting.
• Minimum three years of experience in quality management, preferably in medical practice setting.
Other Requirements:
• Current CPR certificate. TB Test.PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles, practices, methods, and tools.
• Knowledge of computer applications related to Quality Improvement (QI), including spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of medical records and clinical care processes.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications and internet research techniques.Skills:
• Skill in effective education and facilitation of CQI efforts in medical practice.
• Skill in application of tracking and reporting methodology using available software by developing appropriate reports.
• Skill in conducting QI checks of medical records and other clinical documentation and performing random patient satisfaction surveys.Abilities:
• Ability to educate staff in both verbal and written form about clinical topics and risk management procedures in formal and informal settings.
• Ability to interact effectively with health care team members.
• Ability to analyze data and identify trends and corrective actions.Equipment Operated:
• Standard office equipment including computer hardware and software.Work Environment:
• Primarily well light office settings.
• Frequent contact with a variety of people.
• Occasional patient contact.Mental/Physical Requirements:
• Combination of physician office and some classroom settings. May occasionally need to lift/carry/move audiovisual equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasional stress related to deadline pressure.- Location: Fresno, CA
