Typical duties may include:
1. Creates API product documentation for all products, including products manufactured outside Pelco, as assigned.
2. May also assist the Technical Publications Department with writing new and sustaining product documentation.
3. Prepares and maintains documentation plans for assigned projects.
4. Corrects, revises, and maintains product documentation to keep them current with product changes.
5. PDN Content Architecture, administration and User Creation.
6. Works well in a deadline-driven environment with high attention to detail and consistency.
7. Works closely with a diverse group of people (Project Management, Product Management, Engineering, Integration Operation, and others) to develop product materials.
8. Researches and gathers information from a variety of sources to create and maintain documentation.
9. Works with Technical Illustrators to develop illustrations for product documentation.
10. Works with Technical Publication Specialists on final layout and release of product documentation.
11. Works with Copy Editor to ensure adherence to proper writing, grammar, and spelling as well as adherence to department’s standards and styles.
12. Edits and proofreads own documents to make sure they are error-free.
13. Works with a team of individuals to review and approve all documentation prior to release.
14. Adheres to health, fire, and safety regulations; identifies potential safety hazards and reports such to the Human Resources Director.

16. Performs related duties as assigned.Qualifications
Education: Degree in Technical Writing, Journalism, English, or related communication field, with specialization in Computer Science or related Engineering field. Engineering experience or degree or relevant work experience a strong plus.
Minimum requirements
1. 2+ years of technical writing experience.
2. Experience with Adobe FrameMaker and Microsoft Office
3. Extensive knowledge of correct English usage, vocabulary, and spelling.
4. Extensive knowledge of basic publication principles, theories, and concepts.
5. Knowledge of software development and documentation requirements, including online help, single-sourced documentation, and topic-based authoring with DITA.
6. Knowledge of different writing styles and standards.
7. Ability to communicate effectively in written form to various technical audiences.
8. Ability to present material in a general-to-specific format and in a logical and concise manner.
9. Ability to independently research, gather and organize information and materials necessary to create product documentation.
10. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with those contacted in the course of work, in both written and oral forms.
11. Ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner.
12. Ability to operate a computer and associated peripherals.Desired skills:
1. Experience with XML authoring tools, such as Arbortext Editor.
2. Experience with content management systems, such as Arbortext Content Manager or Documentum.
3. Experience with online help generation tools, such as RoboHelp.
4. Experience with graphics software, such as CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator.
5. Experience with product localization.
6. Familiarity with C#, C++, and/or Java.
7. Knowledge of basic electronics, including technical terminology, abbreviations and symbols.
8. Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
9. Familiarity with Linux or other non-Windows operating systems.
10. Familiarity with agile/SCRUM development methodologies.
11. Familiarity with Drupal or other Web Publishing platforms.- Location: Clovis, CA
